Went to my usual salon to get my hair cut, everything was mundane and predictable. Moments later the boss of the salon came in, not the usual cheery self. Hung around the salon in silence for a while and started talking to his staffs. Silence as can be in the salon, i’d got absolutely no choice but to overhear the whole conversation between all 4 of them. Here was what they were talking about…..
The salon boss went to Conrad Hotel for a birthday buffet lunch. Invitation came from a husband of a customer of his. The buffet cost 150 bucks per pax, the invitation was extended to almost 200 people. Among the invitation list, were the wife’s family, friends and even long lost secondary school friends. The birthday “party” was all planned and organised by the husband, single handedly & behind the back of his wife. He sent out every sms, e-mails to all possible contacts, painstakingly took attendance weeks back, got everyone to attend, without breathing a single thing to the wife. On the day itself, he asked his wife if he could take her to a hotel restaurant for a simple birthday meal. Simply dressed, they went along to the hotel….
As she took the first step into the hotel ballroom, everyone wishes her happy birthday. She teared….
Sounds like a simple birthday plan? but read on….
The husband wanted the wife to have a most memorable birthday, because the wife hasn’t got much time to live. She was diagnosed with cancer few months back. She went for chemotherapy and hair started to fall. Both were living a tough time going thru the ordeal, but the husband didn’t want to spend the time left with his partner lament over the harsh fact.
Music filled the ballroom, the couple hugged each other and whispered to each other throughout the whole song. Thank you speech followed. Part of the speech by the wife was to thank her husband for the sweetest thing a man can do for the lady. She ended with, “Find a good lady, and carry on with life. Please let me go and continue to pursue your happiness for the next part of your life without me..” The husband immediately interrupted her speech ,”Both of us, together have taken the wedding vow in front of the lord, pledged to take care of each other for as long as both shall live. I will do just that.”
Ballroom was solemn and teary.
I left the salon deep in thoughts….
This song taught me a precious lesson….
“Love is full of obstacles. But never desist from what you thought might be the end of the road… because the other half didn’t think so.”
“I read a note my Grandma wrote back in 1923
Grandpa kept it in his coat, and he showed it once to me
He said, “Boy, you might not understand, but a long, long time ago,
Grandma’s daddy didn’t like me none, but I love your Grandma so.
We had this crazy plan to meet and run away together
Get married in the first town we came to and live forever
But nailed to the tree where we were supposed to meet instead
I found this letter, and this is what it said :
“If you get there before I do
Don’t give up on me
I’ll meet you when my chores are through
I don’t know how long I’ll be
But I’m not gonna let you down
Darling wait and see
And between now and then
Til I see you again
I’ll be loving you
Love, Me.”
I read those words just hours before my Grandma passed away
In the doorway of the church where me and Grandpa stopped to pray
I know I’ve never seen him cry in all my fifteen years
But as he said these words to her, his eyes fill up with tears
“If you get there before I do
Don’t give up on me
I’ll meet you when my chores are through
I don’t know how long I’ll be
But I’m not gonna let you down
Darling wait and see
And between now and then
Til I see you again
I’ll be loving you
Love, Me.” ”

What a Hectic week. So worn out I really don’t know what to say.
Thankful Missus’s DXB-IST roster happen to coincide with my busy week, else i will feel really bad not able to spend time with her.
Poor baby’s feeling so down these few days because Mark (Her beloved brother) left for Brisbane for studies again. Feeling so bad being so helpless towards such moments.
Hope i can make her feel better when she’s back. Maybe i can bring her to Brisbane to visit Mark.
And what’s with the freaking heat in Singapore! Live Firing yesterday felt totally scotching. Drank a record 8 bottle (liters) of water and I was still dehydrated. Face was totally lobsterized as well.
Got my new laptop on Friday. Felt like such a waste of money. But to be really honest to myself, I really need this laptop. Been given a mammoth task of being the “Wedding Planner” for a really important event. Task is simple – Essentially the overall in charge of the dinner itself a.k.a “If-Things-Go-Wrong-Your-Balls-Will-Drop”. So i need the laptop for my presentation to my boss; bring the laptop to the event location for all the meeting & co-ords with the hotel liaison officer; using the laptop for all meeting minuting & using it on the night for the projection of video’s and pictures. Now i’ve list it down, maybe it isn’t such a waste of money after all.
Random! -> The bag (Crumpler’s Part & Parcel) I thought will be purrrrfect for me to bring my laptop around.

1 more day, Missus’s coming home! Planned for a good dinner date with her to cheer her up. *Blessed*

Remember Grandma telling me when I was younger while I tried to learn cooking from her.
“Too much of anything, no matter how good it is, will only disflavour the dish.. Always do things in moderation…”
Now reflecting back, I think Granny is right

I have never own a watch more than SGD 200 bucks. Never fancy a pretty watch, lets not even mention an expensive watch. Watches like Tag Heuer typically worth more than 5000 bucks might appreciate in value overtime. This watch? Highly likely not. But to me, this watch epitomizes the perfect amalgamation of Art, Science & Engineering Ingenuity, pillared by the strong heritage of fine Swiss watchmaking.

Lombok is the place to go if you’re really looking to escape from the hustle and bustle city life of Singapore. Pace is slow. Environment smells serenity. Lifestyle is Zen. Really different from places like Bali. Absolutely Zero Night Life. Great place for making babies if you’re married.
I will definitely visit Lombok again. This time something much better. But like before, will keep our next Lombok Residence a secret.

Happy Lunar New Year to All~!
It’s been quite a while since i last wrote. Not because i’ve got nothing to blog about but i’ve got so much things i really didn’t know where to start. Anyhow, must start somewhere.
Work was as usual. Took a fantastic break in between by going on a getaway holiday with Missus. The 5 days spent with her at Lombok was precious, quality time. The place was glorious & quiet. Spent loads of time brainlessly activating camera timers so we both could get a perfect shot of us jumping into our private pool together. (Only 1 successful photo, and it’s not by my dSLR, but Missus’s point and shoot camera *faint*). Embarked on a gastronomical adventure by visiting much of local restaurants. Treated ourselves to 2 Spa treatments lasting nothing less than 2 hours each. Took a day tour with a local driver. And having the chance to hold Missus close to me while we dreamt through the 4 nights together. Really want to have more of such hoilday with CWLSS. Though Lombok trip had just ended, we have already planned on the next trip.
Chinese New Year had been pretty mundane. Reunion dinner was uncanningly similar to the past, visits to relatives were carried out like routine. With 1 exception though – I’m thankful baby was in Singapore to celebrate the 1st day of CNY with me. More significantly, it was 14 Feb (Valentines Day). The day started my visit to her place, provided their parents with my best wishes. Went over to my place, was baby’s turn to wish my parents. Visited my granny’s place, ate vegetarian steamboat, gambled for a while, headed to Yishun Pasta Mania for our Valentine’s day dinner & went home to rest in preparation for Baby’s flight to Zurich the next day.
As i’m writing, Missus should have landed on Zurich already. My poor girl must be tired now. Rest early baby. Will be few days later before i see Missus again. Just gotta countdown to that day!
It’s about 3:50am now. Time for me to sleep. Shall upload my Lombok photos up to my flickr.com account and share them with my next post. Good night everyone! Good night baby!

The week is finally ending~! Gotta head back to camp tomorrow for ARR Training, then off for the weekend!
This week flew by really quickly with AI Sect Training being the main focus. Gosh the boys are really starting to grow, both professionally as increasingly competent soldiers as well as the bonding between people in the Company. Bde Comd & 2IC dropped by our training AO and commented on their enthusiasm & fighting spirit. Those comments makes commanders like us happy and motivated to keep the spirit of the fearsome company flying high! Matter of months before i officially take over the command of Falcon Coy. I’m really looking forward to it!
Now something close to my heart!
Talked about going to see Park Central (DBSS Flat in AMK) with Missus. Yea, we did! Went to the showroom, but was told that the ethnic quota for Singapore Chinese had been met. Meaning “Sold Out”. Quite disappointed over the news cause Missus really love the place. Anyhow, went ahead and looked around the showroom. Talked about how we could made use of each room, commented how excellent the toilet was (Btw, Missus has an immense fetish over beautiful toilets). Both agreed that the kitchen windows looked fantastically non-typical of a HDB flat. All these talking, fantasizing really, made me feel the warmth over our relationship. I’ve actually never seen this coming that soon for me… but I think, i’m really in love and ready to open a new chapter in life.
Oh ya, there’s another DBSS flat launching in Buangkok. Signed up for the e-alert from HDB. Now really gonna act fast! =)
Baby’s now in PEK (Beijing). Gonna pick her up on Sunday and attend her nephew’s birthday. (Omg, gonna be the first time meeting more of her extended family, I hope i will make a good impression on them).
5 More Days to my first overseas trip with Missus! Gonnabe A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!!!
